Our newest bride is Liz and she stunned in her custom gown all the way from CHINA! Her story amazes me because Liz is a modest bride that had a lot of trouble finding the right dress that had sleeves (not the sheer ones with the “two beads that are basically not sleeves”), a higher neckline (but not a turtleneck because, Florida) that still accentuated her curves just enough without making her uncomfortable. She searched far and wide, boutiques, department stores, even the large selection of David’s Bridal came really close but didn’t give the option of the right shapewear without showing all her lady parts. It wasn’t until she took her own measurements, went online and found the dress of her dreams that shipped in a few days and was under $300…all from overseas! When I heard her story, I was blown away by how seamless her process was but definitely not shocked at her struggle to find the right gown for her. The lack of options available for all types of plus size brides usually causes them to look overseas or to local custom designers.
In Liz’s case, she came up roses in her beautiful satin A-line gown with beaded detail on the bodice and quarter sleeves. She had a modest v-neck neckline and satin skirt with classic train in the back. Liz’s traditional church ceremony and reception fit right into her personality. Once again, I was the day of coordinator for this particular wedding as well, so naturally, I’m in love with not only the memory but the bride herself! Congrats again to Liz on her nuptials!
